The Red Dot Design Award was launched in 1955, simultaneously with the unique Red Dot mark and the "World Best" design award, together with the German IF Design Award and the American IDEA Award, recognized as one of the three most influential Design Awards. A comprehensive evaluation is made based on design, quality, material compliance, innovation, care for the environment, functionality, usability, aesthetics, reliability, durability and other criteria, in order to decide the award winner, which will be present for 1 year in the German and Singapore Red Dot museums, as well as on-line as in the Red Dot yearbooks.

This year, the Red Dot award is well known world wide in 57 countries and 1636 design related companies; the competition was fierce with 4252 products competiting for the award. From these products, ZINI DEUX has been selected as the winner.
